Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan Workshops
Come and Celebrate Chinese New Year with this Tai Chi
Kung Fu Fan workshop!
A chance for Tai Chi students to learn this fun, dynamic
and enjoyable form that incorporates a wide range of
movements from traditional Chinese Kung fu, Tai Chi and
various weapons, as well as movements from non-martial
Open to students who have the basic foundations of Tai
Chi practice. This will be the first of three modules in
2019 for the opportunity to learn the full "52 Fan
Form". There will also be a
new service available of on-line training videos so that
students can continue to practice at home.

Workshop schedule will include warm up and stretching
session, demonstration of the full Form with the rest of
the workshop devoted to learning the Form step by step.
There will be a break for tradition Chinese Tea, snacks
and refreshments followed by a second practice session.

A day of Wudang Practical Tai Chi Chuan with our
International Sifu Tai Chi Master Daniel Docherty
A rare opportunity to train with Dan at Tring Martial
Arts Academy in Tring where he will be sharing his
wealth of knowledge including: Tai Chi principles &
concepts relating to the Tai Chi Chuan Classics, Canon
and Discourse. Philosophy, History and first hand
stories of his many years of experience of Chinese
Culture and our lineage through his Sifu Cheng Tin
Expect a practical training day of Tui Shou Push Hands,
San Shou Applications, Hand form and internal
(Weapons training may be an option in the afternoon
session depending on numbers and space available)
Nei Kung by separate arrangement
(Attire - due to having permanent floor mats as part of
the flooring at the Academy, no shoes are permitted -
training is in bare feet or socks.)

Our workshop with Dan in September had an excellent turn
out and was fully booked, with 30 people attending so
early booking is essential if you want to secure your

4 students from
Cheddington & Tring gave a Tai Chi demonstration to
residents and staff at Woodland Manor Care in Chalfont
St Peter. The demo included Group Hand Form, Partner
Push Hands Demonstrations, Group San Shou and Tui Shou
routine, Solo Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan routine and then
everyone was invited to join in and try a few relaxing
movements to music! Students took time afterwards to
hand out chocolates and chat with the residents!

We have started to host
specialised 1 day workshops twice a year with Sifu
Daniel Docherty. both workshops in 2018 where fully
booked. Students, practitioners and teachers came from
all over the UK and Europe. Fun and informative,
lots of applications and push hands drills, techniques
where covered, as well as hand form corrections and
opportunity to train in sabre broadsword
applications. Also a number of students where initiated
into the Nei Kung Bai Shi ceremony.

over £150 for Victim Support Charity with our cake bake

Martial Arts and again in September at Cheddington.

We have organised
a number of outdoor free events during 2018 to promote
the benefits of Tai Chi and to encourage the public to
take part and have a go!
on 2nd September was a huge success with approx 50
people turning up! Also a few fellow teachers from other
Tai Chi styles came along to support the event and share
their knowledge which was a great bonus for everyone!

Our "Tai Chi
in the Chilterns" team won Gold, Silver and Bronze
medals for Fixed step push hands (Gold) Beginners Hand
Form (Silver) Spear Weapon Form (Bronze)
Success for Tai

Our "Tai Chi in the Chilterns" team won 7 medals at
the 28th British Open Tai Chi Championships! (4 of
them had never competed before with only 1 year of
1 gold, 3 silver and 2
bronze medals between us for hand forms, weapon
forms and fixed step pushing hands!
TCFE European Championships
achieved 3 Gold medals for individual Hand Form, Sword
Form and Sabre Form.
Leys Leisure Centre
achieved gold for two person weapon performance with
Cliff Cox, as well as 2 silver and a bronze medal for
individual forms/weapon forms.

Tai Chi in the
Chilterns is proud to annouce great success at the
British open, coming away with a Gold, Silver and Bronze
medal! A Big thank you to all those who supported us and

More success was achieved at this popular
Instructor Catherine Birkinhead achieved a gold
medal for Open Sabre Form as well as four bronze
medals, which were in San Shou, Open Sword Form,
Open Hand Form, and Open Group Form (with fellow Tai
Chi Practioners/Teachers Kathy Davies & Mary
Tai Chi practitioner Graham Day who is a regular
student at Cheddington class came away with Bronze
for Push Hands Fixed Step so congratulations to him!

Charlie Glasser won Gold for Push Hands Moving Step
so congratulations to him too and another fellow
