There are a number of
styles practiced in Tai Chi, Wudang being one of them.
Yang, Chen, Wu, Cheng Man Ching are among the other well
known styles.
Even within Wudang
style there are varied styles of training and at Tai Chi
in the Chilterns, Wudang Practical Tai Chi Chuan is
taught, embracing all aspects of the martial art
along with Qi Gong exercises for relaxation, health and
well being. The Wudang style is closely connected to the
Wu style Tai Chi and includes Beginners Square short
form, round short form, long square form, long round
form, seven star stepping, four directions, nine
palaces, silk reeling, pushing hands, Qi Gong and
martial applications plus weapons training to name a
few.
The noticable posture
of the spine particularly in Wudang front stance helps
encourage Chi, blood and fluid to circulate more freely
up through the spine and the body, and can be beneficial
for helping maintain a healthy back, posture and
alignment.
The Wudang Mountains
in Hubei Province, China, are classed as the spiritual
home of Tai Chi and where the Wudang Style derived it's
name from.
